Secret Santa - 2010
The spirit of Christmas is (almost) upon us, well for a fleeting moment yesterday it was anyway . So now the madness of the draw has subsided, you should all have received your email which reveals the name of the person you have as giftee. Some will find it easy some others may find it a bit harder, but from the feedback received already everyone seems motivated to do detective work where necessary to make their gift appropriate. As I said in the email, we have been very lucky to have had Alina working on our Secret Santa artwork, designing the gift tag and address label, (pre printed by Astrid) to make your lives easier. The 50 emails went out fairly quickly yesterday once prepared, so now on to the fun part.
Please remember that the more thought that goes into the gift the better, the care that is taken to select something can speak volumes. The majority of people have provided likes and dislikes, and some didn't, so for those of you who haven't been lucky enough to receive some hints, try to use detective work and check out profiles and so on. !
For those of you who haven't got very complete profiles ty to add a few words to them to help your secret santas! Last year showed the importance of getting the gift in the post quickly especially where you have a gift that needs to go overseas. Postal choices can be expensive too, so the sooner you get your gift in the post the cheaper (by air mail). This is an example of postal deadlines from UK elsewhere, should give some of you an idea of deadlines, but the sooner the better basically! Here you can find info on shipping dates from USA and Canada. Remember these are LAST dates for Christmas delivery.
Most of us are supposed to put a senders name and address on the parcel/packet/envelope, and in order to keep a little of the mystery it was suggested that we all try ingenious ways of keeping to the postal rules, whilst not completely divulging our identities. Name of sender, Mary Christmas, Mr. S. Claus etc.... clearly the postage stamps etc may give things away, as indeed may the country.
Remember to gifwrap the parcel before you pop it into the outter postal wrapping, use the gift tag, and the address label to help you with the so I still think the best thing to do is get someone else in your family/friends to take the postal packaging off without telling you where it is from! (*note to self DO NOT FORGET TO GIFTWRAP GIFT*)!
The main rules to stick by for a happy and sucessful Secret santa are:
1. please do not reveal your identity to the person you send your gift to, but do feel free to hint or leave clues
2. Please do feel free to upload pictures to flickr, even when you receive your packages, tagging 'SoGoProSecretSanta2010' that way people we see when there gifts arrive safe and sound
3. On Christmas morning (with you) please feel free to upload to flickr a picture of the gift tagging 'SoGoProSecretSanta2010' and use the description box to add who you think it has come from.
